AIRTA members are part of an Australian community of professional Imago Relationship Therapists, Imago Educators and Trainees.
Through AIRTA's affiliation with Imago Relationships International (IRI), AIRTA members form part of the larger international Imago community.
A Trainee Imago Therapist is a qualified Counsellor, Psychotherapist, Social Worker, Psychologist, Psychiatrist, Marriage Therapist, Family Therapist or other mental health professional who has completed IRI’s Imago Clinical Training, and is on their way to becoming a Certified Imago Therapist, once they have completed all requirements to graduate.
If you have completed, or are currently completing, IRI clinical training and have yet to become certified, and meet AIRTA requirements for membership, you are eligible to join as a Trainee member.
A Certified Imago Therapist is a Counsellor, Psychotherapist, Social Worker, Psychologist, Psychiatrist, Marriage Therapist, Family Therapist or other mental health professional, who has completed IRI’s Clinical Training in Imago Relationship Therapy.
‘Certified’ indicates that a therapist has demonstrated competence in Imago theory and practice to the satisfaction of their Clinical Instructor.
IRI does not require Certified Imago Therapists to undertake continuing clinical education, or to demonstrate ongoing competence (by testing, supervision etc.) to maintain their certification, but these activities are recommended and encouraged. AIRTA provides specific Imago related professional development annually.
If you have received notification of your Imago Therapy Certification from IRI and meet AIRTA requirements for membership, you are eligible to join as a Clinical member.
A Certified Imago Educator has completed IRI’s Basic Clinical Training on the ‘Educational track’. They can use Imago concepts only for educational purposes. Therefore, there is no requirement, for a Certified Imago Educator to be a counsellor or therapist.
If you have received notification of your Educator Certification from IRI and meet AIRTA requirements for membership...
